Default Air recirculator turns itself off

I have noticed since the summer that when the recirculate button is used while the air conditioner or (now) heater is on, it turns itself off after a short time. I always notice it when I'm swallowing everyone else's exhaust.

This is constantly going on, so I have to keep an eye out to push the button every time it shuts off.

I don't see anything in the book that addresses why this is happening. Anybody have any ideas?

Please and thank you.

When in 'auto' mode the climate control module decides when it thinks you should be in 'recirculate'.

Thank you gentlemen.

I never use auto, so I will make sure to hold till the doublechirp from now on.
