I found on ebay. I think they were 100mm led halo rings. I started with the encased plastic ones but my new set are the flat with individual lights. The plastic ones turned yellow.
I epoxied the flat ring to the high beam reflector.
Now, which set of hid did you get? I want to add them as easy.

You can see in this photo the individual led lights on the ring I added to the high beam reflector. I like it better than the first set because the front lens hides the top of the ring giving the car a mean look when they are on!!
I also used a black sharpie to blackout the white plastic ring. It's easy to do. Just remember to wire it correctly since led has to be pos to pos, neg to neg.

That did not look complicated at all. I always thought HID conversion would be something a little more involved.

I know they simply plug into the existing socket and unless the ballast is too big, it all fits inside the assembly. The set I ordered has a larger ballast and it involves running the wires through the housing but still just plugs into the socket.

thats funny you thought that phil because i did too.i actually held up a amber bulb in the socket and set it in the car to see what it would look like..but after staring at it for awhile and a beer later i decided to put the lense in.it kinda looked cheap without it

Could you tint lens with film or the nightshades spray?

I did this a couple of years ago, I even did the colour coded to the car, that looked terrible, but at that time I kept the chrome part of the indicator which is what I think spoiled it, I ended up painting the lot black which I preferred

Oh yeah something I forgot to mention..... I am doing a MKII version so those LED rings in the dip beam maybe up for grabs

So how do you re glue the lens and what do you use? My new 06 black lenses had dust in them and when I tried to clean, there seems to be some strange coating on the lens and it basically screwed one up. I'd like to try this on my original lenses.

What I did to separate the lens from the body was put it in the oven when the wife is out, at about 150C for roughly 30 minutes. I found doing it with a hot air gun was a bit hit and miss and I broke a lens, doing it in the oven you just take it out every few minutes and give it a little tug, eventually it pulls away quite easily.

To stick them back on is simple, you want some polyurethane sealant, commonly known in the trade as "bond n seal", a few trade names are Tiger Seal and Sikaflex. Don't go made with the sealant just a thin line in the track the glass sits into, what you don't want is the sealant squeezing out on the inside of the glass. leave it for 24 hrs, then go back and seal some more around the edge, I even used it to stick the rubber trim back on, clean off any excess with some spirit based liquid, panel wipe or brake cleaner works well...... Jobs a goodun!!

Those look awesome!!!!! question, is the space behind the lens chrome still?
I'm starting mine tomorrow!!! I've got my old chrome lenses in the box my new black ones came in. I think I'll paint mine the same as my car color. I had a can of spray made up at the same time they mixed my gallon.

Now! You need to buy my old flat grille!! Just pull the front bumper, easy by the way, cut off the over riders and install the flat black grille!!! It would totally take your car over the edge!! And its black too!!

That looks great! Seems like a much more inexpensive way of updating your car's look over buying the new headlight.

You can't even tell the difference!

A job well done.

Looks good...... 1 recommendation, use chromatic bulbs for the indicator, it will make it look even better
