I’m looking to replace the antenna on my 2001 XK8. I’d like o just update the power antenna with a 6”-8” black rubber antenna. Has anyone done this? Any things to look out for ar has anyone done this? I’m thinking I could look around and find a rubber grommet or something to get a clean tight fit and convert or update the antenna cable to work.
id appreciate any ideas or suggestions.

I have been looking to do the same thing since I bought my 2004 XKR. I replaced the original antenna with one from ebay but what I have been looking for is exactly what you have described and I have yet to find one. Hopefully, someone will come up with suggestion.

I'd like to do the same as my antenna motor doesn't work. Luckily in NYC I can still get all the FM stations fairly well in the down position. I have seen xk8 tutorials about putting an antenna inside the car in the rear...

I went ahead and tried your method. It works somewhat. I live in rural NJ and the antenna seems to work with stronger stations but the dipole seems to be very directional with the weaker stations. I can receive one of them fine in my driveway but then when the car is moving the station fades in and out. I was wondering if you had the same experience when you leave the NY area. I assume living in NY you can get all the NY stations really well.
