Default Anyone DYI the convertible top

Hi All,
Since the mechanical has been going well I am starting to look at refreshing paint, seats and top.
My almost 20 year old 97 has a top that has some broken threads in stitching and my headline is really stained looking.
I have seen the available products online and while I have done seat work, never attempted a convertible top swap. I would classify myself as a better than average capabilities, but wouldn't want to end up with car with messed up top. I know there are some cars that are easier than others.
My top is operating correctly, and I had receipts from PO having pump and other work replaced early on by warranty. It is on my short list to do a fluid flush.

Parts prices seem reasonable
Has anyone done a xk8 top at home?
Or has anyone here worked at upholstery shop doing these that can offer advice?
What prices have you guys paid for installation by a shop having yours done?
What about option of a newer top swap from donor, I have seen some breaker ones, easier or don't waste time thinking like that?
Finally has anyone in Austin Texas or close by had one done at a shop and liked results that would share the price and location by post or PM?

Setting the proper tension when installing a new top takes experience and an understanding of material shrinkage characteristics. Too tight and operation could be restricted or material damaged, too loose and it will look sloppy.

I have done my own headliner replacement on this car, which was tedious but did not take special skill, but probably would go to a pro for the top itself.

So no brave soles have attempted a top change?

How about the referral to a central Texas shop that does them?
