Question Anyone know what this would be for?

Hello, everyone! To start, my grandfather gifted a 2002 Jaguar XKR that he had bought at auction, so we have no idea the history of this car. We noticed the rear speakers were not working, even if you set the fade all the way back, so I believe the amplifier went bad. When taking the amplifier out, I noticed split speaker wires that I doubt are factory, as pictured in the images. It would be great if someone would be able to confirm my suspicion about the amp being bad and have a hypothesis on what that speaker wire could be for, and how that may affect putting a new amp in. Adding on, there's an on/off switch in the center console that isn't factory, that, when flipped, doesn't do anything, so maybe that has something to do with it? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

!

Centre console switch, maybe antenna bypass mod? Unless radio is powered on it would appear as though it's doing nothing but in fact doing the job intended.
