Default best fix for wonky steering wheel

i've just finished a rebuild of my front suspension, took it for a test drive today and while it feels great - no pulling, nice and tight - there's one slight niggle - the steering wheel is wonky!
Obviously everything wasn't quite as nicely as aligned as I'd hoped when I reconnected the steering column to the rack.

Wondering what people's thoughts are on the best/easiest fix - redo the connection at the rack, or remove and refit the steering wheel?

How far out is it ??
Did you alter the length of the track rods at any point during the rebuild ? If it's just a tiny bit, could probably be corrected by having the tracking done (which I would have thought might be a good idea after a suspension rebuild anyway ?)

Note the position of the steering wheel while the car drives straight. If you can, drive it straight to the area you will be from and jack the car up and reposition the steering coupler on the rack. Don't want to chance breaking the airbag cassette reel if you turn the wheel lock to lock and run out of wire if your steering wheel is too far off position.

Thankfully I'd already done the track rod ends so didn't touch the rack at all (apart from removing it, of course!). it's probably out 20 degrees, quite noticeable.

There is a tab on the plastic cover on the steering rack pinion that needs to be lined up with a marker, that gives the central position, the steering wheel should also be centred with this. If the wheel is still wonky for driving after checking/resetting this then the tracking needs to be adjusted.

Good call on that timing mark. I had just about forgotten all about that. However, more often than not...that piece is either broken at that plastic timing tab, missing all together or has been reinstalled onto another rack and then wasn't properly positioned. You might also be lucky as well and have the factory steering rack and just need those two marks lined up and regain a straight wheel.
