Howdy, Rob. I'm over in Newport News, so I'll be watching for answers myself.

What sort of things are you needing repaired?

So far I've found that AAMCO over on Jefferson Highway in NN can do things like transmission work, and I was pleased with their work in replacing my rear main seal. I was surprised to be using a chain, and other AAMCOs wouldn't touch the car, but at the time I was desperate.

Other than that I use a little shop called A1 Fast Stop on Jefferson Ave. It's a little operation, and so far I like the owner and the other guys he brings on.

I've talked to Coastal Import and Repair on 21st Street in Ghent, Norfolk, but I've never used them. Sounds like they don't do transmission work.
And finally there's Auto Haus here on the peninsula. They sound like a bigger operation too.

Default Thanks for the input

I’m collecting information in preparation for purchasing an XK8 in the not too distant future. Having a great local source for maintenance requiring specialized skills and tools factors in to the equation.

Abacus Racing on Baker Rd. near the Norfolk airport does everything I can't do myself. They have a lot of Jaguar experience. Rob is the guy to speak with. 757-363-8878
They have done a number of things for me including a transmission fluid change.
Stay away from the local dealer for service, I use them for some proprietary parts that are cost competitive.
