Bluetooth Cassette
the hardest part of the installation is getting the brackets which are holding the amp, CD player, etc. loosened so you can turn the stack around enough to access the needed plug-in’s.
The way it’s wired in, the dash display will show that a CD is playing, but of course the music source is your Bluetooth device, likely to be your phone.
If you have any CD’s in the trunk mounted CD changer they will continue to queue up tracks and switch to the next CD, ad infinitum while the Bluetooth music is playing thru the speakers. To keep this from happening, and subsequently wearing out the CD unit, just take out all the CD’s.

One can still listen to a CD by just turning off the Bluetooth on the phone, which I used to do once and a while . But the variety of music on my phone has made the use of the CD player very infrequent. i can’t remember the last time I needed it.
i could just leave the CD’s in the player, and there’d likely be no ill effects, but just in case there might be some associated wear with the CD spinning round and round, I elected to just pull out the CD’s when using the Bluetooth sourced music
Thee product referenced in the below post is what I installed after another forum member related their own positive experience with it.
the sound is fantastic, what we used to call “high fidelity “ back in the day. The price is reasonable and the installation is only a couple of hour job.
I’ve had it for over a year and the operation is still flawless.
the Bluetooth cassette option has such a flawed sound I don’t believe one could tolerate it for a long trip.

Thank you and the OP for this thread. Just ordered as you recommended ...'Only 1 remaining in stock.' or something to that effect. Oregon seemingly soon going into near lockdown= XK8 projects abound. Still busy working but now I have the reason to 'get stuff', says guvnorette. In reality, I've scarcely have the time to drive it or wrench it...
It's nearly a year since getting the C.red vert. The interval has largely been getting familiar with its needs, strengths, quirks and assessing 'past record'.
Now 2k miles in, couple of fast Oregon coast day-trips has enticed me to commit, to go all-in as it were. This one is worthy presently at 70k mi. Thanks to all the forum members here, seriously. Soon enough will contribute back to the community...regards-

Coincidentally, I looked at an '86 928S in Ukiah (CA) just months before this XK8 purchase. Still storing a set of staggered rims I got just in case it all worked out.
Lucky me, came to my senses. In the 'project realm, I realized then accepted...an aging 928S is an unparalleled opportunity for personal BK...
) If you were closer, you could come get them!

I have the BT Cassette adapter and it works...but I was not thrilled with sound quality so purchased one of the little FM modulators that just plugs into accessory socket and has 2 built in usb power plugs. I am very happy with sound quality and as a bonus, it displays cars actual current voltage!

Mine arrived Friday afternoon! But as I was going on a trip to the coast in the car that evening it, has to wait for install. Drove back Sunday with the top down and it would have been nice to have the BT tunes going. I hope I can do the install over the Thanksgiving holiday. Can hardly wait!
I've been using this one for a couple of years now https://www.ionaudio.com/cassetteadapterbluetooth and I think I did a small review as well. In short it works greater and expected for the price. I had looked into more sophisticated ways to upgrade but these were always much more than I wanted to spend. For about $20 the ION suits my needs.
