Default Broken Sports button and surround

Hi I have recently brought an 2000 XKR Silverstone coupe,

and when driving it I pressed the sports button and it went through.

Under investigation this had broke previously and had been glued into place,

the tab on the sports button has broke along with the holder on the plastick j-gate surround.

Does anyone know where to get a replacement for the button as I am really struggling to find one.

I have seen some metal j-gate surrounds which look nice but a few people seem to say these are difficult to fit, would anyone recommend one or should Ijust replace with original stock plastic surround (mine is the two button version).

Many thanks
Matt

Matt,

It's a Silverstone, built in limited numbers and already sought after above standard models. If it was mine, I'd keep it original...........

Have you tried the specialist Jaguar breakers? There's one south of you in the Midlands and another on my side of the Pennines.

A couple of years ago my cruise control button broke, I remember the dealers price was pretty high so I was able to pick up two used ones off E-bay I bought a spare. I agree with Graham I wouldn't alter the Silverstone much. With mine I did remove the door edge guards, I still have them easy to re-install, and the hood insulation, because it was starting to droop and rub on the supercharger. But i have kept all of the original pieces.

I wouldn't blink and buy a aluminium surround, actually surprised you have not got one as I beleive they were fitted as standard on UK cars but I am not certain, the aluminium surround is an optional extra rather than after market even if the part you buy is not original no one would question it.
Not hard to fit, takes me 15 minutes tops and they come with a metal bracket at the back to hold all the buttons in place

I just bought one from S.Askew on Ebay for $78.00. It is a solid piece and fits as good as the plastic one. The plastic ones are tricky to get off with out breaking them, but this new one has screws to hold it on. They screw into the screw holes that the two inner brackets that aligns the plastic piece, which you do not need any more. He has two types, one for a one switch and one for a two switch. I also bought the metal pedal set from him. My XKR really looks sharp with these options. He is located on your side of the pond.
