Bump steer
Not exactly that, maybe the inverse.
My new-to-me 2004 XK8 transmits the energy from hitting a significant road bump up into the steering column, resulting in a disconcerting amount of lateral deflection of the steering wheel. This happens at any speed and when steering straight , or in a corner.
Minor road imperfections do not seem to impart the same lateral motion.
The car steering feels tight otherwise, and it corners smoothly and effortlessly even when pushed moderately strenuously, until a bump is encountered.
This feels like loose steering rack bushings, but they feel nominally sturdy.
Is this bump response normal?
Ideas?

Hard to tell my car does it sort of like if the road camber is off on the left the car pulls to the left or if I hit a high bump or deep pothole the car steering is upset a little but it's not terrible? Someone else will know better I'm sure. Might just be worn bushing.
