Burned out headlight + oops = loose casing
My passenger headlight began flickering and I decided to pop it out to see if the issue was the bulb or potentially a wiring issue. When I first looked at the metal clip holding in the lamp, I thought I needed to lift the clip up over the tab to get it loose. Unfortunately it was only after reefing up on the tab with a screw driver that I realized I just needed to press in on the clip to get it loose. Forcing the tab seems to have loosened something in the light mounting. Lightly pressing on the lamp will cause the whole mounting to swivel about 1/2" up / down. At first I thought I had broken loose the dip function on the headlight, but that still works. I'm worried that with the structure loose I'll be in for more burned out bulbs. Before I begin exploratory surgery on the vehicle, anyone have any thoughts on what damage I might have caused and possible repairs?
The original problem did indeed turn out to be the bulb. Swapping the driver and passenger side bulbs chased the issue over to the driver side. Anyone have a suggestion on a replacement? I was just going to head into the local autoparts store and look for a match.

standard questions...what year? Do you have HID or regular halogen in a projector housing?
any pics of the parts you fiddled with? not many of us have opened up the headlamp, so its not fresh in our memories

The clip I referenced was the steel ring clip holding in this unit:

Not enough info to go on at this point. Pulling the bucket assy is not that difficult (easier if you pull the front fascia). Chances are you could fabricate a clip or mcgiver a new hold down for the lamp base. Send pics. gordo
