Default Is this a "buy"...

...for someone who puts only around 2-3000 miles/year on? High mileage, odd odometer readings, no maintenence records yet, but it is the year and color I'd like to have. And the price is decent. Maybe someone near could check it out for me?

I bought mine from a private party last spring with ~50k miles, complete service records, and brand new tires for only $4k more. I did get a very good deal on mine, however I'd expect a steeper discount for the additional 75k miles that one has.

It looks good, but the VIN says that it is an MY2002, not '03 as the dealer claims

Cheers,

I only paid $13K for my 2003 a year and a half ago, and it had 72,000 miles on it.

White is pretty uncommon. And, that's not an unreasonable price. If you really want it, drive there with 10k in your pocket and offer them that. Just be prepared that you might face service or repairs directly related to that mileage, otherwise, it's not as much of an issue as others would make it out to be.

White XKs are beautiful but with 125k the price is too high; I check ebay regularly so I'm pretty in tune with the prices. Keep looking, another white one will come up shortly with lower miles.

In fact, I just checked eBay and found a white XK8 with 95k miles for $8.7k

I bought a 2002 Silver (Quartz)/Oatmeal XKR with 34k miles on it in August for $20k.
