Hello everyone, I guess I am somewhat of a newbie, at least to XK-8's, it has been so long since I posted, I had to re-register. Thanks in advance for your infinite wisdom. I am considering an XK-8. I have been looking for about a year. Now I have narrowed it down to wanting a coupe only. For a while any year was OK with me, then I was limiting myself to 2001 or newer, but finding a coupe with low miles in the color I want has been tough. I recently found a 1999, coupe, in the color I want from an original owner with 16 K on it. We have not agreed on a price yet. If the price is right, should I get a '99 or stay diligent in my search for a 2001 or newer? I have only seen pictures of the 1999 I am talking about. It is a long way away from where I live. Looks cherry, however, I am the owner of an '86 XJ-6 with 141K on it that I have had for 14 years and a '03 S-Type with 30 K on it, so I know you can still spend a lot on these cars no matter how pretty they are. I am afraid I am letting my impatience in my search get the best of me. It is a coupe, the right color, and the miles are very low. Should I get the '99 or keep looking? Another quick question, what is a reasonable price for a '99? Whenever I have seen them advertised they are in the $21 to $23K price range, especially in the color I want, and they don't last long. Thanks again for your help and advice.

 

Just an update, The guy ended up not really wanting to sell the '99, or in other words, he wanted way too much money for it. I am back to looking for 2001's or newer.
