Default Can I bridge terminals on neutral safety switch?....

....to confirm if it is t blame for my crank but not start condition?

I have no voltage to fuel pump (tested and works by applying direct current) and the engine management light stays on while cranking, maybe implying a crank position sensor issue. Have new sensor to swap, but car used to start in park, then only neutral, now not at all. Cranks but will not fire. I don't think this is a cylinder wash issue as I have no fuel pressure up at the rails. I don't even think I'm getting spark.

Does NSS disable fuel pump and coils? But why let the bloody thing crank over?

Can I unplug the NSS and bridge certain terminals on the 'car' end to tell the computer (which has a mind of it's own anyway, OBD can't connect to the car) that I'm in a safe position and to start the car, or i this another one of those 'potentiometer runs through a full sweep then gives computer a pre-determined resistance to allow starting' situations?

Thanks in advance, K9

This is not a problem I have come across before, but it can't hurt to try a battery disconnect hard reset. Just in case one of the modules has got a bit confused, as they do some times.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I think I've covered that on the few occasions I've had to disconnect the battery to recharge it. I've taken to pulling one of the terminals off as it has a parasitic drain that runs the battery down right now anyways....

I do have a spare 5hp24 NSS, but that may not have the correct plug on it (it's from a V8 Audi A6), but if it does, I could plug that in without installing it....

I just want to think that it's the NSS as it progressively needed a 'lower' and lower position to start it... Park first, then neutral. I this a shifter cable issue?
