Default CATS shock part number differences?

My 2001 XKR has 110,000 miles and the shocks are beginning to show some fluid leakage. I'm searching for CATS (computerized suspension and traction) replacement shocks and have found several variations that might be compatible.

My front MJB2140EB shocks (Bilstein manufactured for Jaguar) can be replaced with Bilstein 20-070540 B4 OE Replacement (DampTronic) per a Bilstein representative. These are available for $325 each through AJUSA

"New old stock" variations found (so far) are: MJB2140EB, MJB2141EC
Priced around $250.

Does anyone have more information as to the subtle differences of the Jaguar shock part numbers? I'm assuming the "E" means electronic.

EB is the earlier 2000-2002 verison and EC is listed for the 2003+ XKR. I don't know of any differences in the physical fitment but maybe there is something different about the connector?

Mine are the later model, and the connector is a small round 2 pin affair.

There are actually two other options available is you are searching for CATS shocks. These are for the R package, which is supposedly a slightly firmer damping: MXD2140AA is the 2000-2002 model and MXD2140AB is the 2003+ version.

An ebay seller has both and said the EB has a 3 pin connector and the EC has a 2 pin connector. My 3 pin connector has 2 wires going to 2 small pins plus a larger guide pin set in a triangle pattern.
Not sure what all the "R" package additions were other than larger brakes and wheels, My 2001 XKR has the larger 14" front/12" rear Brembo brake rotors and 20" wheels but used the same front shock MJB2140EB as my other 2001 "base" XKR 12"/10" rotors with 18" wheels (now sold).
Those CATS shocks are pricey, I guess it goes along with the pricey Brembo rotors I replaced previously.

Wonder if those pricey cats shocks are worth it. I'm considering going with the normal bilsteins on my 05 xkr when I replace them
