Default CATS years/ Regular shocks on CATS?

Hi guys, I have an 02 xkr coupe. I need to replace the 2 rear shocks.

I'm not sure whether my car has CATS, it sounds like these years do? Even if it does, can I replace the two rears with Bilsteins BE 56727's or will I get codes/issues if I do?

Thanks!

To partially answer my question, I see wires leading to the top of my shocks under the hood - I assume this is the CATS system?

Second part of my question stands; can I use regular bilsteins 56727's for the rear? Or will it throw codes/engine light/other issues?

Thanks

I've heard that you can replace them with regular shocks, I don't know if it will throw a code, but from what I read I don't think so.

As an update to anyone trying this in the future, there is an ADC module in the trunk by the spare wheel, if you disconnect the cables plug then you will disable the CATS system, and not throw any codes/dash messages. (I tested this by unplugging one of the leads on my front shock, which threw a code, and subsequently unplugging the ADC module which resulted in no further codes or "suspension fault" dash messages).

However, the xkr's ride will be significantly affected and the car just sort of "po-go's" along uncomfortably. It's plausible that with a non-adaptive shock set (for example, the bilstein HD shock set) the car could have both the benefit of a new comfortable ride, and disabled CATS (a substantially cheaper repair).

I'm not experimenting this direction any further however, my issues are with a clunk in the rear and I'll be leaving the stock CATS shocks in place and likely replacing the lower shock bushings.

Why would you ever want to disable the CATS system?
is it to save money? then don't buy an XKR

Great input, thanks for sharing Jochem!

On another note, Brutal mentioned that disabling CATS defaults to stiff setting on the dynamic shocks, so if anyone wants to go that route all 4 need to be changed to passive normal shocks. Like I said above after exploring this route for the time being I'll be changing my bushings, which should fix the my rear clunking issues.
