Question "Check Engine" code P1396

Hello again Folks;
Here I am again... Since having my Chain Tenssioners done, I get a "check engine" light that reads "P1396. The "Check Engine" light was on when I picked her up last week. I just figured it was something that had to be cycled out. When it didn't go out I had the code "pulled" and P1396 was what it read. We reset it and it came back a few days later... Something to do with the valve variable timing solenoid I think. Does anyone think these two things could be related?, is that solenoid anywhere around where they would have dismantled the front of the engine to replace the tenssioners and guides??...
Thanks Again
Fred

The VVT solenoids are the electrical connections at the front center of each valve cover. Removing the valve covers requires disconnecting the electrical connections. I just did my tensioners this weekend and also pulled both of the solenoids to make installation easier. Reinstalled, mine worked fine with no codes. Well . . . almost no codes, I did leave the MAFS connector off and got that one.

Did you make a photo album of your tensioner project?

I took some pictures primarily to document that the car now has metal tensioners. At 47k miles one of the tensioners had a 3/8" crack in it. The tensioner job is really very easy and well documented in JTIS. Biggest issue I had was getting the dipstick tube back into the hole.
