Default Chrome Plinth Update

I know this has been covered before but here are some photos around updating from my 1999 body coloured plinth (broken) to a later chrome plinth. (supplied by Philhef).

First my car with the broken plinth

From the photos below of the new (bottom) chrome & old (Top) plinths togeather you can see that the old plinth only has 4 bolts, the chrome plinth has 4 bolts plus 2 locating lugs, so 2 x 6mm holes needed drilling inboard of the existing outer holes.

Also, on the chrome plinth, the holes for the lamps are larger and square, requiring them to be opened out.

This is further illustrated by the following, this shows the holes for the old plinth

and this shows the holes required for the chrome plinth (drilled, dremilled and painted (with touchup paint - then a touch of grease over the dry paint to stop rust)

and this is the final result

I like it, but it makes me want to add chrome on the lights and around the licence plate, to tie it in better

Buy the way this plinth has a silver growler instead of a boot (trunk) release button (installed by philhef). If you do add a trunk release you need to drill another hole for the wires.

regards

Big improvement.

I thought you might have straightened the number plate up whilst you were on.

Or I need to get the later jeweled rears!! (preferably the run out dark ones).

But that must wait untill I deal with a running issue.

Good point, been like that since I got it! Slap dash by the dealer I bought it from, as they are their branded plates.
