Default Coil Pack Prices

My 2000 XK8 (80K) has had issues throwing codes and going in and out of Restricted Performance which, if I'm reading the codes right, all have to do with coil packs. I looked on line for prices and found a single coil to be as high as $125 and as little as $10 on Ebay. I've also seen all 8 priced at $115. Does anyone have any experiences with the cheaper ones or is it another instance that you get what you pay for. If the cheaper ones get the job done, I'm going to have all 8 replaced but was interested in hearing from other folks who may have experienced something similar.

You may have been lucky. There's been several adverse reports about cheap Far East coils on a number of our model forums.

I ran into the same issue (I have the same year motor as yours). 1 coil pack was bad, so I decided to replace all 8 with the cheap e-bay parts. After replacing, I had 4 cylinders on intermittent mis-fire.
I put the 7 old ones back on, and replaced the 1 bad coil pack with the more expensive one from the jag dealer.... runs fine.
With electrical parts, you get what you pay for! Graham11 was lucky

Beck Arnley at about 65 USD each is an excellent compromise between Jaguar stock and the unknown brand markets. My tech and other mechanics that I know have never had one fail. my preference is always OEM for any car, but something tells me that the jaguar branded part is probably nothing better than a rebranded Denso or Beck Arnley. perhaps there is a Ford compatible part number for some much lower priced identical part.

I have had a few from Eurocarparts, on sale at £28 for the 4.2 right now, its worth having one in the glove compartment for emergencies.
