On the basis that my car (2002 XKR convertible) is getting close to 100K miles and has had several owners, I doubt it is ever going to be a valuable "classic"
Im seriously thinking of a colour change from silver to Zao green a la James Bond for fun. Or will it make it unsellable in the future . Anyone have an opinion.
I love my silver XKR convertible with all black interior. Very classy, very masculine, very sophisticated. My vote would be not to change it. Mind you, that would make one less silver one in the world.....
I think that the wrap is a good option for this kind of project.
Honestly, do as you like. A wrap may be a good compromise but I don’t think those are long term. Like a stone guard, I’d imagine they may cause lifting and possibly fade if left too long.
Thanks for opinions -on reflection I think i`m going to keep it original though. Apart from obvious cost factor i`m not sure if its just a bit "boy racer".
A full color change requires a lot of detail work, especially around the doors, jams and visible interior metal. Why not choose a color that you've always liked or wanted? As you said the car is not likely to suffer in value. Once you get away from the "safe" colors it can take a while to find a buyer when you decide to sell in the future. The future is quite a ways off, right?
Yup the future is a way off. EEK just had a price for paint and it can stay as it is for now.( its not like it needs any paintwork doing). Think i`ll save the funds for the inevitable ongoing maintenance instead.
