The rubber seals on the driver side are crooked, going to a car wash I actually got washed too Wind noise is also a problem.

I went to John's Jaguar in SF, but he doesn't do that kind of work, are there any upholstry shops that'll be up to the task? Or can I get replacements and do it myself without too much difficulty (somehow doubt that it's trivial).

If it's the weatherstrip on the windshield pillar it actually is a easy replacement I believe two screws top and bottom and plastic snaps, been a year since I installed it. It cost around $140.00 new.

I had to replace the rubber seal over the right rear window. Very easy.

 

My driver side front weather strip got turned under for some time before I noticed it. It was a mess. I got the part number and prepared to order a replacement . . . whoa ! ! ! ! them things are $140 . . . each.

Pulled it off, a easy effort and inspected the damage. It was split in several places and deformed. I got out the super glue which works well on that type of rubber. Carefully using super glue, a dowel as a form, some wax paper and some black RTV sealant got it back into form and function. Used a little RTV to glue the piece back down.

Been in place and functional for some months.

Immediately spent the $140 on another car project.

It's the wheaterstripping above the main (not quarter) windows (not the windshield).. not a 100% with the nomenclature here

 

test point - how did you reshape it? Did you keep it "wrapped" in the dowel? Why did you need wax paper?

 

I think we are both talking about the weather stripping that the door window slides into at the top.

I used the dowel as a form to mold the sides of the rubber around. Wrapped it in waxed paper since super glue and RTV doesn't stick to the wax. After carefully gluing it back to its original shape, at least as much as possible, taped it around the dowel overnight. Looks as new, no leaks.

Wish I could have done that! The seal on mine was just torn off in spots. Had to replace it. It was about 16" long and cost $112.

 

All of my seals look great, but I'm never going through the carwash again. I thought I could just dash through for a quick spritz. I got spritzed alright! There was water coming in that car from places I didn't even know it had. It does fine in the rain, except for the part where you roll the window down and the gutter dumps right on your leg.

 

Quick . . . run out and see if your third brake light cover is still there!

Several have lost the cover due to the high power air blower at the end of a auto wash.

 

Where do you guys find prices like $114 and $140? I am told it is $242.85 discounted.

I would like not to pay the additional $100 if I can.

 

I need to replace the weatherstripping above my front passenger window as it has started to deteriorate. I would love to know of any discounted sources for the part.

Alright. I'm letting you know. Thanks. This is the weatherstripping on the convertible top that seals to the passenger front window.

 

You might have some misalignment of your windows. I used to take mine through carwashes while on trips, and never had any leaks (and that was with one seal having a 4" chunk missing from the outer part of it. Now, if you use the type that wash the car with high pressure water nozzles instead of brushes or straps I could see where you might get some blasted through. But I don't get water in when the blowers dry the car, either.

I have requested the seals for hypolux and orlando. Hopefully I'll get a reply before mine are shipped.
