HI Folks! Have 2006 XK8 convertible. Would Dexcool be suitable coolant for my car? If not, any suggestions?

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to XK8/XKR forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Orange dexcool should be ok. If adding it to existing fluid make sure it's the same kind and ensuresolution density.

I have used Dexcool in both of our Jaguars from day one of ownership. No issues (and it meets the required specs)....

Hi, in research Ive found Dexcool, not recommended for Jags or Fords. Just GM cars. Not sure why, something about some additive isn't great.
Anyways I use the Pentosin/ Pentofrost red cap version (pink stuff).
Haven't hear nothing bad on it.

Get the data: Vehicle Spec Book PDF

Page 103 lists this spec: WSS M97B44–D
Advance lists this for DEX-COOL:

Prestone DEX-COOL meets or exceeds ASTM D3306 and SAE standards for corrosion protection and meets GMW3420 (GM 6277M), Ford WSS-M97B44-D and property and performance specification requirements of Chrysler MS12106 (MS-7170 & MS-9769)

The short version is that the 4.2 engine is designed for this WSS spec, and DEX-COOL meets it.

As pointed out above, double check what is already there. If anything other than orange (dip a paper towel in it to be sure, the fluid in the tank has a weird sheen that looks sort of greenish to me), don't add anything for now.

Best of luck, keep us posted.
