Cool Correct S/C belt?

Hi all,
I just purchased a new supercahrger belt among other things from Rock Auto.

The old belt was ribbed on both sides, the new Goodyear Gatorback is only ribbed on the inside.

Is this the wrong belt or will it work just as well as the original?

Also, while I have the cooling fans out and the front of the engine exposed woulkd anyone recommend I replace the water pump?

It is a relativly inexpensive item and easy to do at this point and plastic pumps impellers are noted as high fail items or is the XKR pump impeller made of metal on the 2001 MY?

Thanks,

Karl

Form the factory our cars have a single ribbed supercharger belt, but at a certain point probbaly with the x150 (not sure from which year, could be after 2006 or even later) they changed it to a double sided belt (and that also came with different pulleys). Iirc they already used it on the RRS from 2005 (same engine setup/belts).

Unfortunately Jaguar doesn’t offer the original single sided belt anymore, so they will only offer you a full upate (so double sided belt and matching pulleys), but there are plenty of aftermakrt ones like a gates K080514. As you probably already have their updated belt/pulleys you need to buy a double sided belt from Jaguar (am not aware yet of an aftermarket part).

Here is a thread explaining how to swap a belt the easy way.

What Andre said is absolutly correct. youve already had the update done and you now have the wrong belt size
also the plastic impellers are not an issue unless you have an original 97-98 early 99 v8. put stamped steel unit on there and youll have caviation and poor coolant flow through the engine. Those nicely curved plastic impellers have a good flow rate with low drag. plus alot of the after market pumps Ive seen leak from the front seals prematurely.

- wish I'd known that a few years and two unnecessary replacements ago instead of listening to the scare stories about plastic impellers.
