I can't be the only one with this problem, so I thought I would share my "cheap fix".
A few months ago I noticed a crack in my Gear Selector Illumination Module (Part #LNC6195AC). I should have taken action at that time, but sadly, I did not.
The minor crack then turned into a chip. I repaired it yesterday using several light coats of black silicone seal. I am hoping that the flexibility of the silicone seal will make this a more permanent repair rather than a temporary one.
A piece of cardboard wedged between the module and the surround keeps the silicone seal from filling the gap between the two pieces.
After the silicone seal has cured you just need to rub it with a finger to remove any excess and the sheen to match the original finish.
BTW, a new Gear Selector Module sells for around $US350!!!
