Default Dash light questions

I am a true novice with my "new" '04 XK8 so be gentle.
First time driving it at night. When it started the lights for the tach were out and the 0-90 mph portion of the lighting on the speedometer was out. Once I got going the left half of the tach lit up but the 0-90 mph stayed out.
Also, the emergency flasher was dully glowing. Is that normal?
I assume the dash lights are out but halfway of the tach eventually lit up.
I did remove the dash to install RealGauge.
The wisdom of the elders would be greatly appreciated.

I agree it sounds like bulbs but they usually go off and that's it - dead. Some illumination coming back on has to be a bad connection in addition to one or more failed bulbs.

In any event, the IP is going to have to come out to check/replace bulbs but you should check over the disconnections and connections you made during the RealGauge install to see if anything is loose.

OE replacement from Jaguar is supplied complete with the bulb holder:

I thought this was extravagant and unnecessary until I saw the condition of the bulb holders in my 2005 XK8:

If you want to go OE, here's the extract from JEPC:

The main illumination for the IP is LJA4390AA or XR83865 depending on VIN. Given the work involved, it's a good plan to renew ALL the bulbs.
