Default Diagnostic port location?

I was just wondering in case I decide to get one of those OBDII code readers or a scanner/analyzer, where is the port that the cable plugs into on these cars (mine is 2005).

Thanks,

Doug

Open the driver's door, kneel down, look under the left end of the dashboard.

I think a guy driving an XK8 with the name of SeismicGuy could truly be described as...a mover and a shaker.

It is right in front of the bonnet release handle.

Thanks all, I will take a look over the weekend. After I bought the car and was looking it over inside and out, I noticed a weird looking 'flap' of trim at the underside of the dash at around the area where you guys are saying the port is located. I always wondered what that flap was but maybe it indicates where the port is located.

I think what you are seeing is the trim cominglose from the panel. Mine did that and I re-glued it with contact cement.

Actually, the piece I am seeing looks like it should have been cut off. It is sort of a square shaped tab that does not have anything to do with the rest of the panel. The location of this 'tab' is below the sunglass storage compartment and hangs down from and extends beyond the rest of the trim material. I could try and take a photo if anyone is interested.

I found the diagnostic plug right next to the bonnet (hood for me) release.

You might want to remove that panel under the steering column and check it out. I had to replace my valet switch and discovered the loose trim. It is easy to remove.
