Default Differential fluid change

I've never seen a thread on this topic. Anything unusual to the process? Is it a limited slip diff?

75W90 LS?

Thanks!

I don't know much about this process but I have read the XKR comes with a LSD. Pretty sure all the 8s are open but there may be some exceptions.

Try searching the X308 section. Same diff.

I suggest 80W-90 if you can get it in synthetic. The diffs are designed for straight 90 weight so get as close as you can. The diffs are not LSD since they have traction control. You can tell LSD if you ever spin the wheel when the car is in the air, with an open diff, the wheels will spin opposite to each other, with LSD, they spin the same direction.

Wish there was a way to combine all relevent postings in one area. Guess that is our own fault. This one may help. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...l-62744/page2/

Our years of XKR do not have limited slip. I'm having an expensive one installed next week (OS Giken 1.5 $3,000).

My XKR's differential didn't even have a proper drain and filler cap since Jag marketed it basically as 'never needed to be changed'. We know THAT can't be good!

My techs installed a functional fill and drain port so that it can be changed properly. When they let out the original fluid with 140,000 miles on it, they said that the burned smell was incredible. It was only $150 to have them drill and tap the housing for proper changes.
