Default Does anyone have a 2006 copper black XK8?

I'm taking my car in for a repaint oct 14 and I'm trying to nail the color down. I was down to an Acura color, Grigio, a warm dark grey metallic.
While looking at photos, I came across an XK8 in a copper black metallic. Anyone have one? I'm not a fan of copper, but the very few pics I can find look a lot like the Acura color.

Copper black metallic.
I'd probably paint my caliper covers also.

I've found the paint code but I really need someone to verify on their vin. I show code PEG. My painter's supplier says the vin will guarantee. I've called jaguar dealer and they can't find the color at all. Aparently it was only offered on the 2006 XK8 victory edition and very few were special ordered in that color.

If it's that rare you may not find someone on here with a car that color. You could have the paint store mix up half a pint for you to test on a panel.

If I'm honest, I don't think it looks all that different from Midnight Black (PEF) which is a pearl black, so shifts a little grey depending on the light.

I'm also a little worried it may be in a redish tone due to the copper. I'm definitely not wanting that. Thats why i was hoping to find someone with one. I looked at midnight black but if I'm changing, I really want contrast. I never intended to buy a black XK8 in the first place but it was the ONLY one I could find in my price and within about 3-4 hours away.
The Acura color is really something in person. My trim shop guy just bought one in that color and its so rich. And seeing it in person, it's really sharp!
May go back to my chrome impellers wheels if I can find one decent replacement cheep.

I must concur!!! Stunning. You, sir, may have just made up my mind!! I hope my black interior will work as well. I've also been thinking about the carbon interior.
My painter said he could actually paint my wood to match the car. He did an older jag that way and I have to say it was pretty nice! Maybe get a donar set just incase. Steering wheel is the issue. Need to find an all leather.

I was thinking the exact same thing... those wheels, that carbon fiber inside, that color, that year, etc. etc......

There is a forum member (o2manyfish) who has not been all that active lately but he lives in my general area and I have seen his car and chatted a few times. He has the black copper color and it looks fantastic--especially in the sun. I don't think that pictures capture the color very well.

Here's a UK Ad for an XKR 4.2S Final Series in Copper Black (the European 'S' Final Series was the same spec as the US 'Victory').

JAGUAR XK8 4.2-S FINAL EDITION DEC For Sale (2005) on Car And Classic UK [C393339]

The photos don't do justice to the colour. I have the Jaguar hardback brochure on this model which includes colour swatches. The metallic particles in the Copper Black are copper coloured which makes it appear to change from black to copper depending on the viewing angle.

See, I'm concerned that it will have a copper tone, where I want a more black bronze tone. I wish there were one close to see in person as I know metallic simply don't photograph well.
I'm probably better off driving through a few dealers lots and finding a color in person. I want, dark, towards the charcoal/brown metallic tone. Porsche has a color I love if I can find it.

No--the emphasis is definitely on the black. The only time it sort of glows (pleasingly) is when it is in direct sunlight and then you get the copper-ish highlights. I think you would like this color based on your description.

Well spotted Jim,

I pasted the wrong link.

Here's the right one:

4.2 - S Limited Edition, Jaguar XK8 for sale from Classic & Modern Jaguar Cars

Phil,

You're going to have a difficult search to find one in Copper Black. The Victory edition was restricted to 1050 vehicles and that must be the rarest colour.

Since you're doing a full respray, have the guy mix you up something custom. You certainly don't like cookie-cutter looks, so just go for it.

Lots of new colors out there and a good paint guy should be able to mix up whatever you want. Gotta be appealing to be the only guy on the planet with your special color. And you get exactly what you want.

Just to throw my 2C in because I know this is a big decision..a few of those pictures in the very bright light almost have a purplish hue. Granted this is a picture..on the web...etc. Just something to be conscious about in case that would detract from your initial thoughts (or add to them!). Have fun with the decision, I am sure it will be awesome whatever you decide. Jac

I noticed that too. I'm going to check out some dealers tomorrow and find and actual car the color I want. Porsche has some awesome colors.
