driver side window

Default driver side window

i have a 2001 xk8, when i open the door the window goes down that 1/8 inch, but when i close the door the window does not go back up.

It sounds like you need to reprogram the windows. With the window up, lower it completely and hold the button down until you hear a very faint "click." Next raise the window completely and hold the up button until you hear another faint "click." Let us know if this cures it for you.

This has to be the single most asked question on the forum. Maybe it needs a giant sticky of it's own in giant flashing 36 point bold type.

I have another suggestion: Read the Owner's Manual (if available). The procedure is outlined there.
