driver side window does not close properly
On my 1999 XK8 convertable the driver side window does not close the last inch, when to door is closed, when the top is up. To make this more fun, it is intermitent. When it does not cinch up properly I re-program it and it may work correctly for a few times or it may not. This door does not fit exaclty right but it has always been that way. I use the car every day so I am reluctant to take the door appart and have the car tied up while waiting for parts. Can someone give me an idea of what triggers the window to role up when the door is closed. Maybe some one can explain the theory of operation of the window. Thanks Martin.
Check the voltage on your battery after it sits overnight WITHOUT starting the car. If it is under 12.3-12.4 volts, replace the battery.
The window issue is often the first sign of a battery beginning to fail.
Only once you are POSITIVE it is not the battery, then it is time to look at the window electro-mechanics.

Interior lights are fine, same for the door open icon. The battery reads 12.0 volts cold. I have records clear back to 2006 and can't find evidence that the battery was replaced. I will get a new battery asap. I will report the results. Thanks very much!
OPTIMA RED TOP BATTERY, 1/0 GAUGE POWER BATTERY CABLES,NEW TERMINALS.
CASE CLOSED FOR A VERY LONG TIME.
The jag will run so much better as well.
Also run same size ground wire from negative terminal battery in trunk, under car, to tranny housing bolt.
Looking at the stock setup in trunk, its garbage.
