Default Dual intake?

I was looking at the engine in my dad's XF Supercharged the other day and I realised that the car has a dual intake system that feeds directly to the supercharger. Then I recalled that I've seen other cars with dual intakes but are naturally aspirated.

Suppose we get past the possible ECU and MAFs problems, what benefits can be reaped by having a dual intake? I understand that twice the air = twice the horsepower. Am I wrong?

Has anyone tried this with an XK8?

Not quite sure 2x the hosepower, however Superchargers do love air. Like diesel engines, the more the better.

Too much air other than supercharger or diesel could cause mixture problems. U could try a free flow air cleaner like a K&N filter or free flow system. Rich

Twice the parts to break?

The x150 went to a dual intake setup using basically the same motor as the 4.2 x100 that had the single intake. Space might have been part of it, to make an effectively larger intake tube by having 2 of them.

The engine is the limiter for power, and you just want an intake tube large enough to not be a restriction. Bigger than that and it won't matter. There are some high HP cars that have a single intake tube, just look at some of the recent Chevys, so it is more of a design consideration for the car than it is "better" or "worse".
