Default electrical switch keeping 'cycling' with engine off

I have a '97 XK8 convertible. I have recently noticed that something in the electrical circuit continues to "cycle" after the car has been turned off. By cycling I mean that some sort of switch seems to open and close. It sounds similar to the switch that requires the brake to be applied before shifting out of park.
In tracing the sound, it is routing through a connection that is hooked to a bracket on the steering column. Under the removeable panel below the steering column is a bracket on the left side of the column. There are 2 connectors hooked to the bracket - a white one and a yellow one. It's the yellow electrical connector that is in this circuit. I can feel the 'pulse' in the connector each time this circuit opens and closes. In fact, if I unhook it from the bracket, the connection will jump when the circuit opens and closes. The wires run to something above the steering column but I can't see or feel up there to figure it out.
Sorry for the long narrative but does anyone know what this circuit is and what's causing this? It happens when I shut off the ignition and will 'cycle' for a few minutes before quitting - although it doesn't happen every time.
