Default Electrics problem motor front passenger side window has no power XK8 Convertible 2000

Hi members,

my XK8 Convertible 2000 has an electrics problem at front passenger side window. The motor tuns if it is disconnected from the window regulator, but it is not powerful at all. I can stop the turning gear wheel easily with a small pair of pliers. Initially I thought about the bit weak battery, but the window at the drivers side and the hydraulic roof do work perfectly. So I thought about a defective motor, bought a new motor, but same weak motor turn. Does anyone of you have a clue about a possible reason? Thanks.

Possibly a faulty PDM (Passenger Door Module) or harness damage where it flexes with repeated door opening/closing.

Hi Graham, thanks a lot for your help! Can I just check with the PDM from driver side or is it a different one? Do you know?

You can swop with the module from the other side. Just means taking off both door cards

Good luck,
Mike

+1

YES - same P/N for both sides.

It's a tight squeeze to get the module out ......

...... through the speaker aperture.

I had a problem with my 99xk8 driver door window. It would work intermittently. I replaced the motor and module from a parts car. The problem was persistent. I checked the wiring and came up with a faulty ground. I narrowed it down to the connection between the door and the body. The ground pin on the connector had signs of corrosion. Used wire brush and electronics cleaner to remove corrosion and have not had any problems since. I guess that moisture got into the connection somehow.
I don't know if it is your problem but it might be worth checking out.
