Engine ID - spark plugs
Hi all,
I have found lots of useful info on the forum regarding the engine numbers, but I still need a bit of help.
My 97 XK8 VIN 011692, has an engine no (BC)980907 0508, an undocumented change.
I'm looking at buying service parts and spark plugs have the following options;
To VIN (018107) 97-98
From VIN (018108) To VIN (031302) 98
From VIN (031303) 99-
So I am assuming I need parts for a VIN 018108-031302, but is there away of finding parts spec to engine numbers rather then VIN as at some some point engines for the 99 models would of been manufactured in 98.
Does the BC mean anything (on the back of the block) mean anything useful??
Thanks

Engine numbers are not important in choosing parts. The VIN is the important number. They identify change points for ECM's, ECM mapping, and other software versions that have an effect on performance. They also indicate change points for updates to various components which will affect compatibility.
