Default Engine light on. Code p0300, p0303 & p0304

Happy Thanksgiving Cats, My engine light came on this morning. Took it into to a service station to have the codes read. It read P0300, P0303 & P0304. Service man said it needs ignition coils for cylinders 3 & 4. Does this sound correct and does anyone know where I might find the best price for two coils for a 2001 XK8?

Yes, that is definitely a good possibility.

But it also could be as simple as oil leaking from the valve cover into the spark plug wells, which would just mean new gaskets and plugs seals for the valve cover. I would check for that first.

Bad spark plugs or clogged injectors are also possibiliities.

Now that you have the codes documented did you get them to clear the codes and is the car stumbling? If they did clear the codes did they come back? If the car did not stumble and the codes were not cleared I would give that a try before you spend the money. At times these cars get a hiccup and do funny things and you may not have a problem.

No they didn't clear the code. I'll get it done on Friday & see if it comes back. The car is not stumbling. Thanks Gus.

I once had my light come on and got the same codes, car seemed fine. Went to dealer and service rep asked if it was raining when it happened! Told me to go away and don't worry unless it came back or got worse. 6 months later the car was definitly missing and stumbling, and the Autozone store reader gave me a cyl. 6 coil malfunction. Bought one from them (about $85.00) and all was well. The only thing to be careful about is that they may show you the wrong cylinder on a diagram. Make sure you look up in JTIS or elsewhere on this site for the proper cyl. location.
