15-20 hp on a 300hp engine is 5-7% which is nothing in engine modding terms, you probably get a few % difference between a lp weather day and a hp one. the gains from a full sports exhaust swap are about the same as a free flow cat
elite and performance jags claim 25hp for their full system and 15hp for just the rear and they offer before and after dyno tests for an extra charge of course

I did a K&N filter mod on my XJR. It came with a K&N and I removed it, sold it on ebay, and bought a paper filter. VERY happy with this mod. Mahle > K&N.
I have a wacky conspiracy theory that Bosch and Denso have a deal cut with K&N that helps them sell more MAF sensors.
