Exorcising the Demon
For all of you who have helped me through the trials & tribulations of "Failsafe Engine Mode" on my 98 XK8 coupe - a heartfelt Thank You.
I had the new transmission rotary switch installed mid-week and while I'm still hesitant to say it - it appears the demon is on the run. It's started normally & without Failsafe about 2 dozen times now, and that's a record.
Still having a bit of trouble with rough idle & poor performance. But since everything else has been changed (throttle body, plugs, injectors, knock sensors, crank sensor, relays, mass air sensor, vacuum lines, the list goes on & on), all that's left is the ECM. And now that you've educated me about the ECM code being on a sticker in the spare tire well, I can order a plug & play ECM. And that ought to be the final fix. I can move on to the minor stuff, like replacing the sun cracked rear window brake light ;-))
