Flocks of Xk's
I commute 26 miles each way through the heart of Denver, and it is rare - weeks to a month or more - to see another XK8/R. When it happens, we usually try to run together, as it is so unusual. I enjoy the uniqueness aspect of it, at least in this part of the States.
Saw three more XKR convertibles today just driving through L.A., all in just beautiful condition, a gorgeous black on black one, a pristine silver on oatmeal, and a stunning (sable) brown one with blacked out windows. It seems that more of these cars are being brought back up to very high standards. Great to see.
I drive a lot, for business and leisure. In the past few months I have seen a handful of XK8 (maybe 5 tops) and all but one were convertibles. Out of them only one was an XKR. The coupe must have been an earlier model (1997-1999) with older style wheels. Whenever I drive my Jaguar, I feel like a million bux - almost guaranteed that there will not be another XKR coupe stopped at a traffic light next to me. If only I could replace the ugly antenna mast with something more modern...
