Default Fogging up

OK here is a situation which has arisen with my 1999 XK8. After days of rain it cooled off last night. I got in the car this morning and imagine my surprise when after clearing the ice off the windows, I found a very heavy layer of moisture on the inside too. It was not on the seats or dash or other surfaces though, just the windows. I had driven from my home to Vancouver - about three hours travel time - in heavy rain and noticed no leaks, so I am at a bit of a loss to determine where this moisture came from. Does anybody have any suggestions? Is this simply normal for a convertible? The XK8 is my first so I am not sure.

I experienced the same problem when I had my Jag's in ketchikan, Alaska. I found after driving if I left the window slightly opened and allowed the entire vehicle to come to the outside temperature helped. I could close up up for the night and it helped.
I also found that if I let them set for a few days closed up with warm days and cold nights I had the same moisture problem.

This is one good reason to leave the HVAC system in 'auto' setting year round. The AC will automatically come on and dehumidify the car.

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to XK8/XKR forum for advice from members with the same model.

I've found exactly the same with my 2001 XK8, 2005 XK8 and, to a lesser extent my current XK. It never happened with previous XJ6's, XJ40, X300 or X308.

My XK8's have all been Coupes so I think Coupe or Convertible is not relevant to the issue.

I think your car was crying. It wants to go to Florida for the winters.

Maybe a good idea to chalk test the door seals also. Always recommend leaving the A/C on auto permanently.

Had this problem last night. Its been raining alot here in NJ, and I had to drive around with a rag in one hand wiping the windows so I could see with the defrost on high.

I use the ac year 'round too, but the defrost is not blowing well on the driver's side.

I also have a bad boot leak to address, too, thats not helping!
