Default Foggy fog lamps

Spend yesterday washing, waxing and refurbishing seats. Went to remove what thought was haze on fog lamps with kit I’ve used to take off haze on plastic headlights covers. First question, are they glass or plastic? Surface feels smooth and “white” seems to be under outside surface or on inside surface. From second picture looks like a coating. Every picture of XK8s I can find has clear lenses. Wondering if came this way or after market.

It's probably on the inside of the fog lamps glass. You can get access by removing the wheel and the inner arch wheel liner and the fog lamp is easily accessible. Remove the light (it is separate from that "foggy" glass) and then you can check it all out.

The lenses are glass on my 2002 XKR. In fact, if one is not careful the glass will chip when the retaining wire is clipped shut. The glass is “frosted“ on my car as well, but using your photos as a guide, mine are more transparent than your photos indicate.

a little disassembly and cleaning will clear up the matter (yes, a poor pun is all I can manage)
