Question Front grill

Can the front over riders going over the bar in the grill be removed, without taking the chrome bar out with them, or are they something structural? If they can, is the chrome all the way across the bar? I just think the nose would look cleaner without them......Be cool....Mike

I removed my over-riders when I put on my new grill from Mina... they appear to be structural in that if you hit something slowly head on, they may prevent damage to your bumper cover. As far as the chrome piece, on my 2001 it is indented and thinner where the over riders are (and I think the chrome piece just attaches on each end and the over rider provides some support in the middle so it doesn't sag, I think).

Did the same project as Blindside; removed the "fangs" to put in a Mina mesh grille. When you remove the over rider covers there are two aluminum pieces behind them that are attached to the front bumper bar with rivets. To remove them, you almost certainly have to remove the bumper cover (not the worst job in the world) so you can grind off the rivets holding those pieces on. A PIA, but necessary to install the mesh grille.

I think I still may remove the over riders. Even a chrome bar with indents looks better than those over riders....Be cool....Mike
