Not defending parts geek, but I don't expect the aftermarket suppliers to conduct extensive tests on rubber components. But I certainly would like to be informed of the source of drastically defective parts like the ones that melted.

Just in the process of ordering new shock mounts from Part Geek. They show 3 types that they carry.
Do you happen to remember what ones you ordered?
Thanks

obwoodie,

The poly shock mounts ride just fine. In fact, my wife's 2006 XK8 has OEM foam shock mounts on the rear axle (installed in October 2014) and Welsh poly shock mounts on the front axle (installed in January 2016). The only reason we did not install poly shock mounts on the rear axle is because we did not know they existed at the time we did the rears....

Jon89,

Thanks for the quick reply. Do you notice any different feel with the polyurethane shock mounts. i like the idea of them because they will never wear out!!! My 2004 XKR sits 14.5" in the front and it is supposed to be 15.5". One side is actually 1/4 inch lower than the other. I'm hoping it is because of the mounts. I can't imagine shocks causing it but perhaps if they lost some gas?

It is my wife's car, I rarely drive it because at 6-foot-7 I am far too tall to fit in it, but I have not noticed a different road feel on the rare occasions when I do drive it. More importantly, she is happy with it and has not reported any road feel issues to me....

Do not assume that these poly shock mounts will never wear out. They eventually will. But I am hoping that they will last for the duration of our ownership of her car....

obwoodie: My car also measured about 1/4" lower on the left side than the right and was told this is normal due to more weight on the left. With the new poly upper shock mounts installed I have not measured height yet but sure appears that the front came up a bit. The shocks will not cause ride height to decrease.

And did not notice any difference with the poly shock mounts or poly bushings.

On my black polycrap upper mounts that I had removed. It had nothing to do with heat. The mounts kept melting while laying on my garage floor.

I'm pretty sure the issue has to do with the material used. I have many, many snap-on-tool screw driver handles that started to sweat, give off an acidic aroma and then, eventually melt.
The manufacturer should be held responsible.

SNG Barratt Jaguar "off Ebay" for the yellow upper shock mounts. I had to call them to get the new pair for around $116.50 shipped. The ride is wonderful. If they last 5 years I will be pleased.

I had also replaced the front stocks while I had them out. Set of 2 Front Shock Absorbers Bilstein Jaguar XK8 1997 2006 XKR 2000 2010.
Again from Ebay. Seller partscontainer . $210.83 shipped. Manufacturer Part Number for front shocks:
382 26015 245 / 38226015245 The parts may be found for less with some more hunting.

I agree with what member wymjym had said pertaining the black upper poly shock mounts from Motorcars LTD . As far as the parts breaking down and eventually melting. What a mess that was...

That seams to be the price everywhere. If it lasts "2 years", I will be even more impressed!

It appears the mounts were probably poured onsite and either the mixture was wrong or old materials were used.

So my question is did you get them for 116.50 each or for the pair?

Great question. They are $118.22 each on Ebay with Free shipping from SNG, while Welsh is $119/pr with free shipping for upgraded urethane.

I wish the vendors would update their online catalogs to reflect their E-bay prices.

I had got them for $116.00 shipped for the pair. Complete upper shock mounts. You have to call them to get that price for the pair.

Ok I called Welsh and they said that the Ebay deal should have been over a couple of days ago, but she would still give it to me, so if you want in on it I would suggest you call soon. Also they called me back and said that I would have to pay for shipping which she said would be around $12, something about only the small priority box was free shipping and these parts wouldn't fit in that box.

Wish I'd known about the eBay deal. I just paid about $178 with free shipping.

By my calculations Welsh should still have 40 sets left (if their Ebay add is to be believed). It says they have "more than 10 sets left".

Welsh Shock mounts $119 with Free Shipping in 1-4 days

Don't be like me and order direct. Buy them off E-bay.

The eBay link in Ungn's post above is still good. I just order a pair for $119 shipped.
