Front Shock mounts shot, suggestions
I think my winning strategy at age 69 is to take out the whole unit as per the video then take both sides to my friendly indy repair shop and have them do the deed(s) with the spring compressor. Then I can put the assembled units back in with the help of a long cheater bar.
With my shocks and upper bushings still working as they should it could be years before the above scenario takes place. Fingers crossed.

I enjoy reading the posts and wish I was able to handle many of the DIY fixes. Not having the ability or the tools are one of the reasons I am a former owner. Shop rates and parts can break the bank.
David, one thing I did forget to mention.
The new plates (if included) generally come powder coated. Clean the studs with a wire brush before adding the nuts at the top of the tower. The threads are full of paint and will lock up the nut and break the stud. Not grade 8 by any means.

Ask me how I know... smh
OK, just watched this UTube and find it hard to believe I have been doing it wrong all these years, well, a few times for friends.
If it was that easy, why are we making it a issue. Just dropping the sway bar link and it (front A arms, top and bottom) drop right out of the way with a little help.

Thoughts????

Never never never ever put a fully loaded (I think he compressed the spring farther than needed) suspension spring in that position under your chest, stomach, chin and entire upper body... I CRINGED for him when I watched that part. It's like flirting with disaster...and not needed.
All that can be done with the spring set horizontal and the spring load mostly facing away from ya... I also like to let the shop do that bit.
