Fuel level sensor & check engine light

Could a bad fuel level sensor set off an amber engine light? I wouldn't think so, but, the fuel level sensor is the only code my obd is showing, thoughts?

in a jag NOTHING would surmise me that something like that would throw a code.

When my Fuel Level Sending Unit failed (intermittent open circuit) there was no Trouble Code or Light.

The Fuel Gage would just show Empty or Normal.
