Default Function of a mystery sensor

On the floor board there is a sensor on the drivers side foot rest that has a little black sensor with a wire attached to it. What is the function of the sensor?

There is not (supposed to be) any wiring in the dead pedal.

Machine gun trigger? Ejector seat?

Does your car have a aftermarket alarm system? Could be the reset button for that.
Does the button push in a little bit?
If yes, probably the alarm reset button.

I don't think it came from the factory with that. What happens when you press it?

The placement looks sloppy and suspect. Maybe it fell down from somewhere above and became stuck on the pedal...

It does in fact and there was a mystery horn that kept going off that we disconnected from the engine fuse box.
