Default Fuse layout question

Car: 97 XK8 Convertible

Problem: Can't decipher the fuse layouts, specifically the driver side dash.

I can find lists of what fuse controls what, but where a specific fuse is located must be some common Jaguar knowledge I don't possess. I have the 1999XK8workshop manual and the 1997XK8Wiring manuals, but don't see an Enigma code key to decipher which fuse is #12 etc.

Is # 1 Top left and #2 below it?
Is # 1 Top left and # 2 beside it?
Is # 1 Bottom front (when you tilt your head to see in the small space) and numbered going up? (I know...this wouldn't make sense, but neither does not putting the garage door opener module on an ignition switched circuit in a convertible! Might as well leave the house key on the front seat.)

Does anyone have a picture of the fuse box layouts? It would be nice to see a picture of the layout with numbers like the trunk box..

Thanks

Top left is No1, No2 is underneath and so on.

FWIW, the fuse number is available on the fuse box itself. You might have to remove a fuse to see it, it is pretty small and easy to miss. Maybe use the flashlight on your phone and the camera with some magnification.

Not on the drivers side (US) at least.
After matching the pattern of missing fuse slots and verifying with fmertz, they are numbered top to bottom starting on the right.
Right column is 1 - 9
Left column is 10 - 18

Not sure who reads right to left but it is correct because in TINY numbers (1/2 the size of the fuse value number) next to the fuses confirm.

I got caught with this in the beginning. I guess the fusebox OEM thought he'd have a little fun.

Logically, we would read top to bottom, left to right, same as the handbook:

Perhaps the handbook should have read like this
