Got p0352, p0353 and p358
Yesterday my wife started her 2000 Xk8 and it got really rough. Hooked up generic code reader and OMG - got 300, 302, 303, 308, 313, 308, 313, 314, 352, 353, 355, and 358. Erased codes, started it up - ran ok for about 3 seconds and then rough again. Checked codes again and got only codes 352, 353 and 358 - coil codes. Replaced coils 2 & 3(not #8), ran rough after 3 seconds again. Checked codes again and got same as previous check - 352, 353 and 358. Now thinking cam tensioner ? Nearest dealer is 2.5 hrs away. Any advise greatly appreciated please.
HI there,
The coils go back to the coil modules? Well, they do on my car. These are behind the throttle body under the scuttle panel - if you unbolt them, they're quite easy to get to and swap them over and see if these codes are reversed. This would then point you to one of the modules being bad.
Another thing to check it battery condition - is your battery decent and enough voltage? If it's been standing for a while, it could need a decent charge. Jags seem to throw random codes from iffy batteries.
Another thing to try is a hard reset of the ECU - disconnect the battery leads - both of them, and then touch them together for about 10 seconds. Reconnect the battery start the car normally and let it idle for a few minutes, check for the codes again and everything running normally.
What year is your car?
thanks,
Matt.

I replaced the battery trying to solve an issue last summer, alt is 3 yrs old. All new coils and plugs last spring. It fires right up and runs good for 3 secs then like a light switch - goes to crap. I made appt with Jag dealer in Wichita KS(closest near me - 2.5hrs away). Earliest appt available was April 30th. I’ll cross my toes tomorrow and check voltage.
