Default Trouble Codes

Here is the trouble codes from the manual. From the sounds of it and looking at the codes i would start with disconnecting and cleaning the connectors for the ignition modules and the ecm. if you have cleared it before and it ran ok then it could be just corrosion. you could also swap locations on the modules and see if the code change to the new cylinder location. your current codes are for cyl 1, 7 4 and 6.

Mine had exactly the same problem. I switched the coils and ignition modules and got the same codes, concluded it was the ECU. I sent it to ASI for repair and it runs fine.

Who is ASI? I have a 2003 x type with ECU problems and need to have it repaired, possibly. How much was it and did you have to have it programmed after you got it back or did everything work fine?
Thanks!

Here you go. Several forum members have used them for Throttle bodies, ECU, etc. Cost is probably under $400, but shipping will not be cheap if you want to insure for replacement cost. They will probably repair your ECU or send exact match, so it's plug & play.

I used them on my 97 XK8 ECU and on a 1990 Chevy Beretta Indy Pace car digital dash that was all wacked up. 110% great work by the guys and gals there!

I emailed them and they said $389. How much should I insure for? Cost of a new one and programming? Any idea how much that will be?

I insured for $3500, but if you buy from a dealer and have them program it's likely a lot higher. 707 auto parts offered a rebuilt module that would work in any 97 plug & play for about $ 650, so that might be a more reasonable number.
