Headlight assembly question
Is there a procedure to remove the whole mechanism covered by the grey cover you circled in yellow? Further digging into this I see that the tip end of the mechanism that plugs into the white plastic plunger, you marked with the red box, is broken off. Someone tried to glue in place. I am thinking If I can remove the whole mechanism I may can repair the broken tip and plug it back into the white plastic plunger. Or hopefully find a replacement mechanism.
I don't know, but there must be.
Still struggling with my headlight issues but now the passenger light has gone out. Someone suggested a possible issue with the ground connection as it can be an issue. Anyone have an idea where the ground for the HID lights for a 2004 XK8 is located?
Thanks,
Bill

Thanks Pistnbroke while that detail is very good it is above my comfort zone. I think I would rather attack this from the actual ground spots to see if they or it might be source of my problem and just need to be cleaned up. Any idea from anyone (picture preferably) when the HID headlight ground location(s) are? I found photos for XKJ and other Jags but none for XK8.
In advance thanks,
Bill

You only need to know the colour of the earth wire from the diagram I sent you and then scotchlock a new wire onto it and earth the other end .
PS the larger bolts under the hood are live not earth !!!
