Default Headlight protection film

After a long backorder, I have new headlight lenses (and gaskets) scheduled to arrive tomorrow from Terry’s Jag (who’ve really been awesome on this). I’m thinking it might be a good idea to put some clear headlight protection film over them and my foglight lenses to help reduce my worries about chips or damage from flying pebbles, etc.. Has anyone done this? Any product suggestions/tips? Were you happy/would you do it again?

I have done this several years ago. Have found no downside.
I cannot recall exactly what l used but it is about 2mm thick, self adhesive and l cut it to shape myself using a template made from stiff paper.
Recommend using soapy water mist and squeegee for application.
